$117,000 from Instant Ticket Wins
A man from Attleboro, Mass., claimed a $40,000 win on a $5 "40th Anniversary" Instant Ticket. He bought the ticket at SP Varieties Inc., at 451 Hartford Ave., Providence, and said he will probably use the winnings to buy a new car.
Shannon Craft of Portsmouth cashed in a $37,000 winning "Triple Dynamite 777" Instant Ticket. While stopped to get gas at 3302 Holdings, 3302 East Main Rd., Portsmouth, her husband bought four different $5 Instant Tickets. He fanned the Instant Tickets out and had Shannon and two of the other car passengers each pick a ticket to scratch. Shannon was in shock thinking her big win was a joke until she read over the entire ticket front and back and determined it was in fact real. She and her husband plan to use the winnings for their two college-bound children.
Middletown resident, Barbara Welch (far left in photo), was also in disbelief over her big win. She played the "$1,000,000 Scratch" Instant Ticket and won $20,000. She refused to believe she won until the check was in her hand, so she hadn't decided how she'd use the money. Colbea Enterprise, 1149 West Main Rd., Middletown, sold the winning ticket.
The "Lucky Times 20" Instant Game got the adrenaline pumping for Providence man, Armen Habosian. Armen purchased multiple Instant Tickets from Smith Street Shell, 1525 Smith St., North Providence, to give out as gifts, but decided to scratch one for himself resulting in a $20,000 windfall. He plans to use the money to pay his student loans.
