Two $20,000 Instant Tickets Claimed
$10,000 PowerBall® Winner in Rhode Island
Two lucky Rhode Island Lottery Instant Ticket players have won $20,000 each.
Hassah Armstrong of Dennisport, MA is one of the $20,000 winners. Hassah came to Rhode Island to pick up a part for his car. He also stopped for gas at Hess Express, 1308 Stafford Rd., Tiverton and was going to get $30 in his tank but decided to get $28 instead, saving $2 for an Instant Ticket. He chose the $2 Rhode Island Lottery "40th Anniversary" Instant Ticket and couldn't believe he won. The two winning numbers revealed were "5" and "12", coincidently, his birthday is May 12! He plans to pay bills.
The other winner, a woman from Cranston, was glad she played the new "Walking Dead" Instant Ticket. She also won $20,000 and plans to use the money for her four children. She purchased the ticket at Rite Aid, 655 Warren Ave., East Providence.
Saturday night's $151 million PowerBall® jackpot drawing resulted in a $10,000 winner in Rhode Island. The ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number, for the standard payout of $10,000. The winner did not purchase the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager. If the player had opted for Power Play®, the $10,000 prize would have been multiplied by three, Saturday's Power Play® number, to equal $30,000.
The $10,000 winning ticket was purchased at Quickets, 285 George Washington Hwy, Smithfield.
Wednesday's estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $171 million.
