$35,000 2nd Chance Winner in Disbelief
$20,000 & $10,000 Instant Wins
Last night, Dennis Ziroli Jr. of North Providence, had a dream where his late grandfather told him he was going to win the lottery. In the dream, Ziroli did not believe his grandfather, and he also didn't believe Lottery staff when he received the phone call today congratulating him on a $35,000 second chance win. Even after lottery staff assured him the win was real and explained the claim procedures, he was still in disbelief. He said he immediately called his parents, grandparents and girlfriend to share the news, and they were all equally doubtful. Within a couple hours of learning he won, Ziroli came to Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. Having a little time to think about what to do with the money, he said he plans to buy a new car. The Cumberland Farms on Division Street in Pawtucket sold the non-winning ticket that Ziroli entered on the Rhode Island Lottery's website for a second chance to win.
A Cranston woman also plans to buy a new car with her $20,000 win. She decided to buy the "Lucky Times 20" Instant Ticket today while at Stop & Shop, 204 Garfield Ave., Cranston. When she saw she won $20,000, she immediately went to Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. The Lucky Times 20 Instant Game still has eight $20,000 prizes left to be claimed.
Additionally, a $10,000 prize was claimed by Eliezer Cepeda, Dorchester, Mass. He purchased his winning "Magic Money" Instant Ticket from Runi Wine & Spirits, 700 Prairie Ave., Providence. He claimed his prize while accompanied by his daughter, and said they will do some shopping with the winnings.
